This project involves asking different people their views about drugs. This could include your friends, other young people of your age, your parents and people of their age, your grandparents and people of their age, some of your teachers etc.

You could ask them the following questions:

one Do you think of yourself as a drug taker?
two Which drugs do you use and why?
three Which drugs do you think cause most problems and why?
four Which drugs do you think is OK for people to use?
five Why do you think people use drugs?
six Why do you think some people get into problems with drugs?
seven Do you think the drug laws should be changed and if so, how?
eight What do you think should be done about the drug problem?

An alternative is to ask people whether they AGREE or DISAGREE with specific statements about drugs. For example you might ask people whether they agree or disagree with the following statements:

one Most crime is caused by drug use.
two Alcohol and cigarettes cause more problems than illegal drugs.
three Students who bring drugs into school should be expelled.
four Cannabis use should be made legal.
five Young people use drugs because dealers force them to do so.
six The law should be tougher on drug dealers.
seven Parents know very little about drugs.
eight Once you are addicted to a drug it is almost impossible to stop using.
nine The government anti-drug campaigns on TV have been excellent.
ten Most young people who use drugs thoroughly enjoy it.

Record the answers people give you in note form. Report what different people have said for each question. Next look to see how similar or different the views are and whether people of different ages or backgrounds have different views. If there are different views why do you think this is so? How do the views given compare with your own views about drugs?
