For
this project you will need to obtain a range of leaflets and pamphlets
about alcohol. You might be able to get some through your school or college,
local organisations and local libraries. You may also want to check out
some websites that provide information on alcohol - see the Resources
section below.
Other organisations which produce leaflets on alcohol include:
Alcohol Concern produces a booklet
aimed at teenagers and young people. You may have to pay if you want more
than one copy. Telephone 020 7928 7377
The Portman Group provides posters,
leaflets and other material promoting responsible drinking. Most of the
material is free of charge. Telephone 020 7907 3700
Alcohol Focus Scotland produces many
leaflets on alcohol, some of which are specifically aimed at young people.
You may have to pay for them. Telephone 0141 572 6700
Fast Forward Positive Lifestyles Ltd
in Edinburgh produces a comic style booklet on alcohol and its effect
specifically aimed at young girls. You have to pay if you want multiple
copies. Telephone 0131 554 4300.
Once you have collected a range of different leaflets look at them and
decide:
1. Who are they aimed at?
2. What information is given about alcohol?
3. What are the key messages about alcohol and drinking?
4. How different and similar are the information given in the leaflets?
5. What do you think of the design and the way the information are presented?
6. How accurate are the information given?
7. How well are the leaflets suited to their target audience?
8. Which do you think is the best and worst leaflet and why?
Write a report of your findings in your project book. You might also show
the leaflets to other people (fellow students, teachers, parents) and
ask them what they think of them.
