is acceptable drinking?

This project is about exploring what people think is safe, acceptable
drinking.
There are very different opinions on this because the same amount of alcohol
can affect people differently. You may get drunk quicker if you are small
for example.
You may want to consider first what are the rules that make drinking acceptable
within the law, some of these are:
- Amount
of units of alcohol that can be drunk in a day
- Age restrictions
- Drink-driving
limits
- Responsibilities
for family and in the workplace
Second you
could try to find out why people react to and are affected differently
by alcohol. For instance some people feel quite drunk after one drink
and others say they feel nothing until they have had two or three. Some
of the reasons often given for these differences are:
- A person's
size and body weight
- Whether
they are boys or girls
- The amount
of food they have in their stomach
- The speed
at which they drink - binge drinking
- The strength
of the drink
- If they
are taking medications
Third think
of situations where drinking has made you or other people behave or feel
in an unusual way, for instance:
- More confident
and relaxed
- More aggressive
- More prepared
to take risks or be in dangerous situations
- Could
not remember your actions they day after
- Physically
sick
Now that
you have collected all this information what do you think is 'acceptable'
or 'unacceptable' drinking? Can drinking be dangerous for instance in
specific situations like driving or in the workplace and can you propose
ways of safe drinking?
