What are people's attitudes towards alcohol?

This project is about finding out what are your and other people's attitudes towards alcohol and other topics related to it like safer drinking or choosing not to drink alcohol at all. You can ask the opinion of friends, other young people of your age, your parents, grandparents, people their age, teachers etc.

Start out by finding out about your own attitudes by looking at the following statements:

  • You need alcohol to have fun
  • It's daft to get drunk
  • It's embarrassing to refuse a drink
  • Getting drunk is the whole point of drinking
  • Drinking alcohol makes you look cool
  • Alcohol helps you socialise with others
  • Alcohol should be banned

Now ask other people what they think about these statements and analyse the results. For example:

  • Are other people's opinion different from yours?
  • Have they made you reconsider your own original response?
  • Do you think there are safer ways of drinking?
  • What about people who choose not to drink?
